Beyond Description. . .

We check in with the Owsley Stanley Foundation!

The band’s latest box set “Listen To The River: St. Louis ’71 ’72 ’73” includes 7 previously unreleased Grateful Dead shows. Three of those shows were recorded by Owsley Stanley a/k/a Bear.

The Owsley Foundation restores recordings – just like the St. Louis tapes – with the hopes of officially releasing the performances. Their latest release is Johnny Cash at The Carousel Ballroom. The venue was operated by members of the Grateful Dead and the soundman was Bear. Directors from the Foundation tell us about these recordings and how the Man In Black influenced the Grateful Dead.
